The Internet of Things is about to get even more connected.
Today, Amazon announced that it’s bringing a new type of device that can connect to a variety of sensors, like heart rate monitors, to help you keep tabs on the status of your home.
Called the Amazon Sink, this new device is meant to allow users to access the information they need through the Internet of things, but also provide information that’s more accurate than what you might find in the comfort of your living room.
For example, Amazon says it can detect whether your kitchen sink is empty and tell you if it’s working or not.
Or, you can tell your thermostat to turn down if you’re not home.
And Amazon says the Sink can even connect to the Amazon Alexa speaker system to give you the exact temperature of your house.
All of this can be done from your Amazon Echo smart speaker.
If you’re a little more familiar with the Amazon Echo, the Sank is essentially a speaker that uses Alexa to tell the Sinker which room you’re in, and it then tells you how much you should charge your phone.
So if you have a few devices connected to your Amazon Alexa and the Echo, this will be a great way to find out what’s going on inside your house and what’s not working, even when your phone is not in use.
This is Amazon’s latest addition to the connected home category, which includes the Echo Dot, Nest Cam, and Echo Show.
Amazon says its Sink is “the only product that’s going to enable you to monitor your thermoregulation and control appliances and lights with your voice.”
